General situation. —A shallow cyclone has cr/isscd the South Island and is being followed by a depress sion of the westerly type, which is moving over the southern Tasm an Sea. Pressure is high over the northern Tasman. Forecast.—Winds: Moderate but freshening northerly backing to westerly and later to south-westerly. Seas (N.Z. waters): Becoming rough on the west coast and about Cook and Foveaux Straits elsewhere moderate. Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong west to southwest winds with rough seas in thw eastern Tasman Sea. Weather: Changeable and still somewhat un settled with scattered and intermittent rain but more especially in districts with a westerly aspect. Temperatures: Mild but becoming cooler to-morrow. *. Sun rises to-day, 646 a.m. Sets 5.4 p.m.
