As a protest against the dismissals of casual hands a largo meeting of railwaymen held at the Otahuhu workshops stated that in addition to th c 50 men whose notice would expire this week, 38 men had to-day received a week’s notice making 88 dismissals from the staff of 1000. A resolution of protest criticised the recent increases in the, salaries of members of the first division and called on the Minister to justify this superannuation payments, which wore also criticised.
