Chased by two policemen in other cars, Edward Leslie Baker, labourer, aged 20, who was driving a car at about 1 o’clocl this morning, which had been reported missing earlier in the evening, found himself cornered, jumped out, and made over some back fences. It was useless, however, and he appeared at the Court in due course. After hearing the probation officer. Mr Page, 8.M., remarked that quite a number of young house-breakers had started their escapades by taking someone else’s car. He imposed a fine of £l5, in default two months’ gaol. The fine may be paid at £1 a week.
