MINE EXPLOSION
TOO HUNDRED ENTOMBED TWENTY BODIES RECOVERED (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright' BERLIN, July 9. Two hundred miners were entombed following a coal gas explosion at Hausdorf. Twenty bodies are reported to have been recovered. It is feared that th? death roll will be higher. Desperate efforts are being made to rescue the imprisoned men. FIFTY MEN DEAD BERLIN, July 9. There are fifty dead as the result of the Hausdorf disaster.
67 BODIES RECOVERED. HEARTRENDING SCENES. Received July 10, 11.30 p.m. LONDON, July 10. Hausdorf advices state that 67 bodies have been recovered and 48 miners have been brought to the surface suffering from poisoning. These have been sent to hospital. Seventy-three still are underground and there is little hope of saving them. After the explosion clouds of poisonous coaldust swept the passages. Scores were caught by the choking fumes and collapsed and died on the spot. Hundreds of weeping women and children crowded the pithead, at which wero heartrending scenes.
