Members of the Highways Council yesterday made a tour of inspection of the important roads in the Patea and Waitotara counties. This morning the party will inspect Wanganui and Rangitikei county roads. Those in the party yesterday were: Messrs P. Keller and Lyth (Public Works), Doull and Mair (Rangitikci County). Whale Skull Found.
Some weeks ago the skull of a goose-beaked whale was sent ii to the Wanganui Museum. It was found on the Waitotara beach. The skull is in perfect condition, but the lower jaw was missing. This, it was stated, might yet be found. The jaw might be recognised by the fact that it has only two teeth, qne on each side. This whale is comparatively rare and grows to a length of from 15 to 20 feet. Largo numbers of people have inspected the female hump-backed whale ashore at the Okehu beach, north of Kai Iwi.
