KITCHEN TEA

A very enjoyable kitchen tea was given by Mrs Smith and her daughter, May, last Tuesday evening in the Luxor Cabaret Hall in honour of the apj.reaching marriage of Miss Winnie Barnes and Mr Carlyle (Peko) Bankin. The evening was spent in games and dancing, with a euchre tournament for the non-dancers. The winners of the cards were Mrs Lett, Mrs Gilbert, Mr Bobb and Mr Carveil, Amongst those present were: Mesdames Smith, black embossed georgette; Barnes, rose crepe de chine; Butler, black satin; Goldsack, black satin; Carveil, fawn frock; Lett, pink crepe de chine; Gilbert, black lace; Austin, navy blue; Graham, grey frock; Misses Winnie Barnes, lemon taffeta; Smith, tangerine lace; G. Allen, black frilled net; Jones, black georgette; Pocock, blue satin and gold lace; E. Ferris, gold satin, gold lace; Williams, floral georgette; P. Doyle, figured crepe de chine; Stewart, red crepe de chine, gold lace; E. Doyle, blue figured crepe de chine; R. Scandlyn, scarlet crepe de chine; scarlet shawl; Benson, mauve taffeta; P. Gilbert, black lace; I. Powell, blue satin, apricot, shawl; Duke, blue and mauve beaded georgette; K. Butler, lemon frock; Messrs C. Bankin, Barnes (2), B. Nixon, R. Nixon, K. Frater, Bigham, Anderson, Carvell, Ansley, Lett (2), Duggan, Graham, Smythe, Goldsack, Robb, Nyberg, Alexander, Williamson (2), Green, Beiley, Mitchell, Coombes, Berryman, Sykes, Climo, Butler, Miss Phyllis Gilbert delighted the party with a clog dance and an Irish jig which were both done very cleverly. Mr Basil Nixon and Miss Bona Ferris very kindly supplied several pieces of dance music, and the evening ended by the happy party singing “Auld Lang Syne.”
