THE MOUAT SENTENCE

PETITION FAILS [ Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, June 23. The petition to the Executive Council of Frederick Peter Mouat, of Christchurch, who is at present serving 17 years’ gaol for manslaughter, has failed. Mouat sought the quashing of his conviction or pardon or reopening of the case in which he was charged with wife murder. The Attorney-General, after giving his reasons, says that there are not sufficient grounds for taking action.
