General situation. —A secondary depression is crossing the Dominion to-day. The barometer has risen a gain at Hobart, but condition s are still disturbed on the central east coast of Australia. Forecast. —Winds: Moderate t 0 strong or, in places, of gale force; west at first in Cook Strait and the eastern districts of the North Island, but otherwise southerly generally. Seas (N.Z. waters): Moderate north of-East Cape, elsewhere rough. Tasman Sea: Strong but decreasing south-westerly winds and rough seas in the eastern Tasman. Weather: Squally and changeable with showers in most districts- snow in parts of the South Island and the highlands, and hail in places. Temperatures: Very cold. Sun rises to-day, 7.16 a.m. Sets, 4.30 p.m.
