Wethered and Tolley beat Von Elm and Voigt (America) by two holes. Jones and Dr. Willing (America) beat Hartley and Torrance, 8 up and 7. Mackenzie and Moe (Ameri|ca) beat Holderness and Stout, 2 up land 1. Johnston and Ouimet (America) ‘beat Campbell and Smith, 2 up and 1. I In the women’s championship semifinal, Clcnna Collett (America) beat I Enid Wilson, one up. Diana Fishwick beat Miss MacDonald, five up and four. Thrills came in the second half. Tolley, with a great chip shot for three at the fifth and another at the eighth for two, squared the match. The Englishman led first at the thirteenth when Von Elm was somewhat jumpy under the strain. Excitement was intense over the late holes and play was patchy on both sides. The Englishman went to the eighteenth dormy one and it was all over when Von Elm failed to reach the gren with a long brassie. In the remaining matches the American was definitely superior. Meantime another Anglo-American struggle was proceeding in the ladies’ championship when Miss Collett won the semi-final after an exciting match against Miss Enid Wilson on the last green. She now meets the 19-ycar-old Diana Fishwick in the final.
