SAWMILL BURNT

OWNERS HEAVY LOSERS MEN OUT OF 'WORK I Per Press Association ] NAPIER, May 14. A sawmill at Miromiro station near Waikaremoana, owned by Thomas Brothers was totally destroyed by fire to-day. When the blaze was first noticed the flames had a strong hold and there was no possibility of saving any portion of the building, but a number of large stacks of timber were saved. The mill was partially covered by insurance but in any case the owners are heavy losers. The destruction of the mill has temporarily thrown out of employment a number of married men, but the owners intend to rebuild immediately. The Government purchased the mill from a. local company when the Waikaremoana hydro-electric works were commenced and Thomas Brothers took the plant over fairly recently.
