MOTOR SPEED RECORD “WIZARD” SMITH’S TEN MILES [ Per Press Association ] WELLINGTON, May 8. The claim by Mr Norman (W’izard) Smith to have made a ten-mile world record in a Cadillac motor tar with a Rolls-Royce aero engine at NinctyMilo Beach, North Auckland, has not been upheld by the Royal Automobile Club. The Motor (England), of March 11, states that tho international regulations covering attempts on world and international class records require that all records up to ten miles shall be automatically timed by apparatus registering to within 1-lOOth of a second, and if . ttempted on a straightaway course the distance shall be covered in both directions. As these conditions were not complied with the R.A.C. is not able to submit the claim to the A.I.A.C.R. for recognition.
