SPECIAL OFFICER’S MISSION [ British Official Wireless. ] RUGBY, May 6. Mr Philip Snowden (Chancellor of the Exchequer) said in the House of Commons that he was not in a position to make a comprehensive statement regarding the proposed action of the Government on the Palestine report, but with regard to one section of the report it had been decided to appoint a special officer to visit Palestine on a temporary mission for the purpose of reporting in consultation with the High Commissioner on the important questions of land settlement, immigration, and development. Sir John Hope Simpson, who Lad very high qualifications in the matter, had agreed to undertake this mission. Conversations with the Arab delegation on various matters raised in the report were proceeding.
