JOCKEY’S MISFORTUNE

DEATH OF MRS GOLDFINCH. (Special to “Chronicle.”) Auckland, Alay 2. The death of Airs Goldfinch, wife of the jockey H. E. Goldfinch, occurred in the Auckland Hospital yesterday after an illness that was painfully sudden. Airs Goldfinch was a daughter of Airs A, Taylor, of Auckland, whose husband, T.’ Taylor, a prominent jockey, was severely injured when his mount Pohutu fell in the Great Northern Guineas in November, 1907, and died on the following day. Cadence, who was following immediately behind Pohutu, also fell, but the rider, Hector Gray, escaped unhurt. Sincere sympathy will be felt for Goldfinch in his loss. One of his sons died only last year and he himself is still suffering from the effects of his severe accident at Te Aroha in Alarch.
