WANGANUI EAST CLUB SATURDAY’S RESULTS On Saturday bowlers were again favoured with beautiful weather when practice games "were played at the Wanganui East green. The following are results of the games played:— Bowling, Carrad, Travers, Willis 17 v. Edmonds, Raine, Jones, Anderson 23. Lowe, Gillespie, Graham, Stewart 17 v. Streeter, Harris, McDougall, Joll 27. McGregor, Penn, McLaren Carvell 16 v. Lind, Brooks, Gaunt, Wight 18. Turner, Bamford, Martin 16 v. Holloway, Heinold, Barney 18. Next Saturday will see t/*e last day of play for the season, when all Wanganui East players are requested to be in attendance to take part in the closing ceremony. A PLEASING CEREMONY A pleasing ceremony took place at the Wanganui East bowling green on Saturday when the president, Mr J. Caldwell, made reference to the Gordon Pairs competition recently played in which the Wanganui East Club was represented by two pairs. In the eliminating games Messrs Bowling and Ho loway, as one pair, won every game. Although beaten they also put up a very creditable performance in the final. A supporter of the club was so pleased with their performance that he has given a silver button, suitably inscribed, for each of the two players. The buttons were with due ceremony, presented and the recipients suitably acknowledged, thanking the donor for the gift.

ST. JOHN’S CLUB RESULTS ON SATURDAY. The St. John’s Bowling Club will close their greens next Saturday. With the end of the season in sight there was quite a good attendance at the St. John’s green on Saturday, when the following games were played— KP.’S Match. Hunter, Barker, Nodwell, R. GONVILLE CLUB FULL-RINK SEMI-FINALS PLAY A good muster of players assembled on Saturday at the Gonville Bowling Club’s green, being favoured with ideal weather for the semi-finals of the full-rink competition. The results of the matches played were as follows: Full-Rink Semi-Finals Mailman, Higgins, Cornish, Murphy 10 v. Lake, Symons, Beard, Robinson 33. Fisher, Sutton, Cornes, Fyfe 26 v. Doig, Taylor, Gordon, Corby 8. Handicap singles final:—McKenzie 23 v. Evans 17. Junior pairs final:—Davsy and Fisher 21 v. Taylor and Chenery 20. Practice Games Tinney, Pocock, Smith, Cochrane 22 v. Doust, Wilson, W. Healey, Bowater 18. J. Healey, Threadgold, Chenery, Wallace 13 v. Davis, Inglis, Naumann, Newman 25. Next Saturday the final of the fullrinks will be played and the following week the green will be closed for the season with a Gala Day.

WANGANUI CLUB CLOSE OF THE SEASON VICE-PRESIDENT V. PRESIIDENT At the Wanganui Bowling Club’s green on Saturday, to mark the official closing of the season, the annual match between teams chosen by the president and the vice-president was played. Very close games resulted and in the aggregate the vice-president’s team won by the narrow margin of eight points. Results were as follows, the president’s team being mentioned first:— Moynihan, Harden, Price, Foster 15 v. Milne, Cresswell, Cramond, McFarlane 27. Hughes, Pridham, Lewis, Innes 17 v. Addenbrooke, Wilson, Sherwin, Crawford 21 v. Hally, R. S. Brown, Hedditch, Goldstono 19. During the tea adjournment the president Mr J. R. Foster, in a happy speech referred to the state of perfection to which the green superintendent Mr Napie'r, had brought the playing areas and on behalf of the members presented him with a case of pipes. Mr Napier suitably responded. Members are notified that one green will remain open for play as long as the weather permits.
