FEDERAL GOVERNORSHIP
COMMONWEALTH INNOVATION. “CONSTITUTIONAL REVOLUTION.” Received April 25, 8 p.m. LONDON, April 24. The Daily News, points out that the foreshadowed appointment of Sir Isaac Isaacs as Governor-General of Australia means a constitutional revolution. The report has caused surprise in London and embarrassmeit at the Dominions Office where complete ignorance is professed. The paper adds that what is causing comment is the report that the post has been offered to anyone presumably by the Australian Government, thus putting aside all precedent and convention.
CANADIAN GOSSIP Received April 25, 8 p.m. OTTAWA, April 24. The report that Australia has recommended a Governor-General of the Commonwealth has revived gossip here as to who will succeed Lord Willingdon at the expiration' of his term next year. It is frequently suggested that the Duke of York will be named, and he is likely to be the first choice of Canadians, but in case this is impossible the question of the appointment of a Canadian undoubtedly will be given consideration. The name of Sir Robert Borden is often mentioned.
