EGMONT RACING CLUB
THE WINTER MEETING NOMINATIONS DUE TO-NIGHT The approach of the winter racing season is signalled by the announcement that entries for the Egmont Racing Club’s steeplechase fixture are due to close to-night, and with the Easter holiday carnival of such recent date the necessity for attending; to nominations may easily be overlooked by owners and trainers. The Egmont Steeplechase, the first big steeplechase of the winter season, has a stake of £350 and the distance extends to about two miles and a-half, while the Tongahoe Hurdles, with £lBO in stakes, extends to one and a-half miles. Also on the opening day is the McCrae Handicap, of £5O, over a mile and a-quartcr. On the second day the stakes are in like proportion, and thus a good response may be anticipated from owners and trainers. Nominations are due to close at 8.30 o’clock to-night, and as the Hawcra telegraph office closes at 8 p.m. those interested should not fail to make their entries early.
