PROPOSED FUND AT WAIHI MINERS REQUEST SUBSIDY' WAIHI, April 21. A request that the Waihi Gold Mining Company should renew its offer of t subsidy toward a proposed sickness and accident fund was made by a deputation of Waihi miners which waited upon Mr C. Rhodes, New Zealand director of the company, last week. The request, supported by several speakers, was given a sympathetic hearing, and Mr Rhodes suggested that the__ deputation should call another meeting of the workers as a whole, and take a ballot on the question of formulating a scheme. Upon of the result, he said, he arould consider the question of renewing the offer.
