WANGANUI ASSOCIATION TEOH. OLD BOYS DEFEATED. The match between Wanganui and Technical College Old Boys, in the Wanganui Cricket Association’s senior competition, was concluded on Cook’s Gardens on Saturday. . Technical College Old Boys continued their second innings, which stood at 21 runs from the previous Saturday’s play and were eventually dismissed for 30 runs, making a total of 69 runs for the match. Wanganui, which made 251 in its first innings the previous week, won by an innings and 181 runs. The following were the scores:— Wanganui. First innings 251 Tech. Old Boys. [ Per Press Association. ] DUNEDIN, Feb. 1. The Plunket Shield match between Otago and Wellington was continued to-day in ideal weather conditions. Lowry decided to close Wellington’s innings at the overnight score of nine for 283, and Otago commenced their innings on a wicket that was playing well.

Shepherd (52), Cavanagh (16), Elmes (40), Alloo (36), and Dunning (29) were the best batsmen for the home team and McGirr, Badcock and Baker were responsible for disposing of Otago for 198. Badcock bowled well throughout the innings and when he could not take wickets kept runs down effectively. His four for 41 was a good performance. Baker took three for 52 and McGirr two for 56. The Otago innings closed at 3.30 and after the tea adjournment the visitors opened the second innings. When the total was 11 Foley and Baker were out, the former being run out and the latter bowled by Dunning. When stumps were drawn the score was 122 for the loss of six wickets. In the Brisbane Sheffield Shield match against Victoria Queensland in the first innings made 80. Benstead scored 15 and Hornibrook 18. Bowling for Victoria, Ironmonger took seven for 35 and A’Beckett three for 44. _ Victoria lost three wickets for 82 in the first innings, Ponsford making 15, Hendry 6 and Ryder 35 not out. The wicket was sticky after rain. Ryder won the toss but sent the Queenslanders to the wicket. There was a display of temper by barrackers when, towards the end of the Queenslanders’ innings, the Victorians fielded loosely in order to allow the tail-enders to try to bolster up the poor score, and much hoc’.ing. The barracking of the Victorians culminated in a couple of the tail-enders deliberately throwing away their wickets. PLAY IN SYDNEY BRADMAN AND FAIRFAX. Received February 2, 5.5 p.m. SYDNEY, Feb. 2. In grade cricket, batting for St. George against Cumberland, BraSman made 54 not out, Fairfax 40 not out. For University against Waverley, Hogg made 80 not out. Bowling for St. George, Theak took five for 40 and Green five for 45. WEST INDIES TEAM VISIT TO AUSTRALIA. Received Feb. 2, 5.5 p.m. SYDNEY, Feb. 1. The Australian Board of Cricket Control is making arrangements for a

visit of a West Indies team next season. Five tests will be played, two at Sydney and one each in Melbourne, South Australia and Brisbane.
