CONFIDENCE MEN

A PROFITABLE YEAR Received Dec. 2. 11 p.m. LONDON, Dec. 1. Confidence tricksters in London have established a record this year. It is reliably estimated that thus far they have netted £200,000 from credulous victims, many of whom were Australians. Scotland Yard officials say that most of the confidence men are now en route to various parts of the world — the Riviera. Madrid, Florida and Sydney. They leave in quest of unsuspecting “pigeons.” Only one woman is known to have fallen a victim. A well-known detective is of opinion that prison is not good enough for confidence men. They deserve a public testimonial.
