HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY

'pHE opening of the Wanganui Horticultural Society’s summer show to-day recalls how much is owed to such societies for the beauty of the garden. The interest which horticultural societies stimulate in the growing of many kinds and varieties, and the stimulus to the development of new types of blooms has resulted in the great number of varieties being available to the gardener to-day.

No small debt is due to the societies for their good work and this should at least be attempted to be repaid by support of the exhibitions which are organised from time to time. But no lover of flowers need feel that be is attending a flower show in the interests of the society. The event is actually organised for his advantage and he is always benefited by attendance at a flower show of the standard sustained in Wanganui.
