Genera] situation —Th e depressions centred respectively in the west of the North Island ancu east of the South Island, have lost their intensity since yesterday. There has been a considerable rise in the pressure over Eastern Australia. Forecast —Winds:: northerly to westerly, backing to southerly soon from Cook Strait northwards; elsewhere, southerly moderate, but freshening generally. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rather rough on panes of the west coast; elsewhere, moderate, but rising south of East Cape. Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong southerly wind s and rather rough to rough in the Eastern Tasman Sea. Weather: Dull, with much mist or, in places, fog in most districts, with some further heavy falls in North Auckland, Bay of Plenty and Gisborne districts and improving on the west coast of the South Island; temperatures becoming colder. 1 ‘ CHRONICLE ’ ’ OFFICE READING.
