ONTARIO ELECTION RESULT (Australian Frees Aesn.] Received Oct 31, 7 p.m. OTTAWA, Oct. 31. At the Ontario provincial election the Conservative Government, under Premier Ferguson, was returned to power. The state of the Parties as the result ®f the election is: Conservatives • .. 93 Liberals 9 Progressives ........ 4 Ind.-Conservatives . . .. 1 Liberal-Progressive .... 1 Doubtful .. .. .. .. .. 4 Deferred 1 The Premier and all Cabinet Ministers were elected. The Liberal leader (Mr Sinclair) was also elected, but the Progressive leader (Mr Lethbridge) was defeated. In the last Legislature the Conservatives held 77 seats, Liberals 23, and others 12. GOVERNMENT POLICY LIQUOR NOT DIRECT ISSUE (Australian Pre«s Association.> Received Oct. 31, 11.5 p.m. OTTAWA, Oct. 30. Liquor was not a direct issue in the Ontario elections, but certainly the Government policy of sale was endorsed by the electorate. The result to-day will be col.d comfort for people who wish Ontario brewers and distillers prohibited from exporting to the United States. The Government has a big programme of hydro and mining development.
