FIRE BRIGADE MATTERS

INTERVIEW WITH CABINET INSTRUCTION IN SCHOOLS [ Per Press Association. ] WELLINGTON, Oct. 31. The executive of the United Fire Brigades’ Association, after interviewing members of the Cabinet to-day, stated it had reached a definite understanding with the Department of Internal Affairs as to the status of the Association. The Minister of Transport, the Hon. W. A. Veitch, gave a sympathetic hearing to the representations in relation to the licensing of fire vehicles, and a request to the Hon. H. Atmore, Minister of Education, that fire prevention should be taught in the schools, was received equally sympathetically. Mr Atmore stated that he would do everything possible to carry out the Association’s wishes in the latter respect.
