FINE CAST OF PLAYERS IN “KNIGHT OF NIGHTS.”
The cast of players who enact the chief roles in “Knight of Nights,” the new movie which commences a three days’ season to-day at the Grand Theatre, perform their respective characterisations with such good effect and sincerity that it would be safe to say that such a brilliant cast of players has never been assembled for one picture before. The cast is headed by La Jana, a Continental actress of some note, who took one of the leading roles in a former picture, “Two Red Roses.’’ In “Knight of Nights” La Jana plays the role of the beautiful ward of an old Franch Marquis, who is deeply in love with one of the Marquis’ sons. La Jana’s role in his picture, does not require just beauty, and the way in which this beautiful girl plays it, therefore, mraks her down as one of the most talented actresses on the screen to-day. Samborski plays th e chief male role of the picture. This young man gives a polished performance in his role of a young man who is betrayed by his own brother. Samborski might be remembered by movie goers by his excellent work in “Life’s Circus.” Perhaps what is the best performance of all, and certainly the most picturesque, i s the part of Marius, a member of the underworld. Everybody has heard or read something about the Apaches of France, but a clearer conception of the ways and habits of these people could not be had than the one which Marius gives in “Knights of Nights.” This entertaining First National production should not be missed by picture lovers. The plan for re serves is now open at Theatre office.
