(By 11 Kestrel”) There will be racing at Carterton and Akaroa on Saturday, to be followed by the Whangarei meeting on Thursday and Saturday of next week, while the Canterbury Jockey Club’s big fixture at Riccarton will be held on November 9, 11, 13 and .16, Reminders Acceptances are due to-morrow for the first day of the Whangarei meeting. Nominations are due tomorrow for the Otaki-Maori meeting. Levin nominations arc due on Monday, November 4, at 8 p.m. Foil ding nominations close on Wednesday of next week at 8.30 p.m. Tc Kuiti nominations are due tomorrow. The Hawera Meeting

The disposal of the Waverley fixture on Labour IDay draws attention to the fact that the next meeting to engage the attention of Taranaki racegoers will be the Egraont Racing Club’s summer fixture, which this season will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, December 18 and 19. A very attractive programme is advertised and should receive good support from owners and trainers. Nomination are due to close on Friday, November 29. Woodville Meeting

The Woodville District Jockey Club have issued the programme for their summer meeting, which will take place on Wednesday and Thursday December 11 and 12, a week before the Egmont fixture. This gathering often enables owners and trainers to secure a line on the prospects of their charges for the Christmas and New Year fixtures. On the opening day the Bolton Handicap of £275, If miles, and the Oete Handicap, of £2OO, six furlongs, are the principal events, while the remaining fourteen events on the programme are sure to prove sufficient to attract good entries. Clever for Westmere In pursuance of his policy of building up the Westmere Stud by the addition of good mares, Mr John Donald has purchased Clever, the sum involved being, it is stated, 250 guineas. Clever is, a three-year-old filly by Psychology out of Miss Oute, the latter an imported mare by Charles O'Malley out of Canny. During what may be only a short career in the future on the turf Clever will be trained by O. Cox, at Hawera. Bisox Breaks Down Before the field had travelled very far in the Waverley Cup on Monday it was obvious that there was something wrong with Bisox, and it was not long before the Bisogne mare was pulled up. She had broken down and it will be a considerably long holiday that she will have to take from racing. To Buy Night Lad The successes of Night Raid’s progeny have led to inquiries from Aus. tralia for some of those racing in New Zealand. An attempt was made to purchase Night Lad at Trentham on Saturday but there was no business done. Richfield’s Chance At the finish of the October Handicap at Trentham on Saturday Richfield came from the clouds into fourth place. Many placed a mark against his name for future events, and in the concluding event on Monday he justified their judgment by winning nicely. Toxeuma Toxeuma did not begin so well as the speedier ones in the Shorts Handicap at Trentham but he was going on well. At a mile, or a mile and a quarter, in any company at any time now, states “Vedette,*’ Toxeuma will take some beating. Simba and Satisfy Considerable interest was taken in the Wellesley Stakes on Saturday and the features of the race were, of course, the failures of Simba and Satisfy. There was some interference as the field raced across the open space at the junction of the round course, and C. Emerson had to pull up Satisfy or she would have gone over the rails. That settled her chance. Simba did not suffer anything to a similar degree, but he did not come round the slight turn too well. Watch Officer and Chrysology, however, had better fortune, and the advantage stood to them. Simba, under the whip, responded well, but was not making up a great deal of leeway at the finish. Fractured Skull

In the Wainui Handicap on the opening day of the Trentham meeting an unfortunate accident marred the day’s proceedings. > Burgess, the rider of Atholspcar, was thrown by his mount stumbling, through getting on to the heels of Great Charter. More than half the field galloped over Burgess, and he was sent off to the Wellington -Hospital with dispatch. He sustained a fractured skull, and latest advices are that he is making only fairly satisfactory progress.

At Trentham last Saturday the remarkable success of Chief Ruler two-year-olds was well maintained, when Watch Officer beat Chrysology and Simba pointless in the Wellesley Stakes, and Gesture and Chief Link filled first and third places in the Taita Handicap. Watch Officer, a chestnut gelding from Watchful, rather disappointed his owners and trainer in the Debutante Stakes atWanganui, and Avondale Stakes, al-
