A Politician. “I’m afraid our Deputy-Mayor is becoming a bit of a politician,” said Mr John Coull addressing the public at last night’s opening of Empire Trade Week. “You thought he was going to say something about the trams, but he didn’t. There’s one thing I want to say though, and that is that this city is fortunate in having one of his ability with finance to guide the Council at this time.” (Applause). Bandsmen at Football. An interesting football match will be played on Saturday when members of the Queen Alexander* Band and the Garrison Band will meet on Spriggens Park at 3 o’clock. As both bands possess a number of men equally proficient as footballers and instrumentalists the match should be a lively one. Prior to the commencement of play the bands will march up the Avenue.
