WEDDING

FALLOON—SHAW A marriage was solemnised on Saturday, August 17, at Christ Church, Wanganui, the contracting parties being William Henry, eldest son of John Henry Falloon, Wellington, to Gwenyth Valima, fourth daughter of H. Shaw, Aramoho. The Rev. Archdeacon Meredith officiated and Mrs G. Woodcock presided at the organ The -bride entered the church on the arm of Mr H. White attired in a charming frock of ivory marriette, the scolloped skirt falling with an uneven hem line, and bodice trimmed with orange blossom. The beautiful embroidered veil was held in place with the usual coronet of orange blossoms, and she wore silver shoos and stockings to match. She carried a bouquet of freesias, pale pink roses, and maiden hair fern. The bridesmaids were Miss Gladys Shaw (sister of the bride) and Miss Ellen Wilson. The former w’ore green georgette trimmed with crepe do chine to match, the droop at the sides reaching the ankles. A largo felt hat trimmed with silk straw of tho same toning was also worn. The other bridesmaid wore canary crepe do chine trimmed with georgette and a largo felt hat trimmed with silk straw. Both carried bouquets of Iceland poppies and maiden hair fern. The little flower girl, Zelma White, looked very dainty in a frock of pale pink crepe de chine with scalloped and frilled skirt, pale pink rosebud trimmings and a little tulle Dutch hat to match. She carried a basket of pink carnations and maiden hair fern. The duties of best man wore capably carried out by Mr Bert Ruscoe, of Wellington, and Mr J. Herd acted as groomsman. After the ceremony, Mrs H. White, attired in navy, blue satin beaute frock with two-tiered skirt and beige hat, received about 70 guests at tho Royal Willows. The usual toasts were honoured, a happy and a convivial time having been spent, the bride and bridegroom left by car amid showers of confetti and good wishes. BABY MARJORIE To help augment the funds for Baby Marjorie Newsome, a splendid young people’s concert was arranged by Mrs 0. H. Clinkard and given at her home, St. John’s Hill, last Saturday evening. About fifty friends and neighbours assembled and a most enjoyable evening was spent. The programme consisted of pianoforte solos by Misses Joan Graham and Joan Rankin, songs, recitations, Highland dancing, violin and pianoforte solos by Masters Jack and Bill Deerness. Derrick and lan Clinkard, Gavin and Gray Dickie, Peter Graham, Jim Falconer, Maurice King and John Wills. Mrs Clinkard, who greatly assisted the young people with her accompaniments, entertained them afterwards at supper.
