AUSTRALIAN AVIATORS

KINGSFORD SMITH’S PLANS A VISIT TO AMERICA AMSTERDAM, Sept. 11. It is announced that Captain Kingsford Smith will shortly go to America in order to thank Captain G. Hancock, his backer in the famous transpacific flight last year. Ho will not be accompanied by Mr Ulm, who is returning to Australia for urgent business reasons. Captain Kingsford Smith has not definitely abandoned his transatlantic flight plans, but it is more probable that he will fly the Southern Cross back to Australia in an attempt to beat his own time. He took up a new F 9 Fokker which has three 500 h.p. engines, with a 90ft. wingspan, and carries 18 passengers. He may secure a similar machine for use in Australia.
