WHALERS CALLING AT WELLINGTON According to a report, both the factory ships of the Rosshanet Whaling Company will call at Wellington on their way to the Antarctic. In former seasons the Sir James Clark Ross, 8224 tons, has coaled at Stewart Island before departing southwards with her chasers. Since her last voyage, however, this ship has had her boilers fitted for oil fuel and her bunkers arranged to carry a large supply. The Sir James Clark Ross is now on her way down the Pacific, and is expected to arrive at Wellington about October 12 to take in oil fuel. In all probability she will bunker at Miramar. The C. A. Larsen, 13,246 tons, from Norway, via San Pedro, is due at Wellington about October 14 to take in fresh water and oil fuel supplies before proceeding south. Special interest attaches to the coming visit of the new factory ship Kosmos, 20,000 tons register, the largest vessel of her type in the world. Accompanied by seven new chasers, this ship is expected to arrive in Wellington on October 5.
