SCHOOL JUBILEE

GOOD PROGRESS MADE. MEETING OF THE GENERAL COMMITTEE. The third meeting of all interested in the Queen’s Park-Girls High School Jubilee, which is to be held on October 18 and 19 was held in the Queen’s Park School last evening and was well attended. Those present were, Mr A. Hickford (chairman), Mesdames Gordon, Siddells, Wright, Smith, Comrie, Buller, Deerness, Ferris; Messrs A. Webby, T. Metcalf, A. Siddells, H. Jenning, A. Bateman, A. Gurney, T. Ambler, J. King, W. H. Jackson and M. K. Takarangi.

Apologies for absence were received from Messrs A. Takarangi, and W. Bruce, Mesdames Hally and Watts. Mrs Siddels, reported on the progress made since the last meeting. No definite arrangements had been made, but she assured all present that the social and concert functions would be very well conducted. She also gav e particulars in connectio with souvenir buttons. These were quite inexpensive—about £ll a thousand for the bigger designs and £7 10s a thousand for the smaller types. Samples were shown around, and it was decided that 1000 buttons of the better class be bought, finished in the school colours—amber and black—and that the inscription be printed in black on an amber background. A circle of amber is to be placed around the button; the printed matter reading Queen’s Park JubileeGirls’ High School 1878-1929. The charges for admission to the sport’s function was fixed at one shilling for adults and threepence for children.

A letter was received from the Rev. E. T. Cox M.A., inviting the executive to attend a hanksgiving service to be held at the conclusion of festivities. It was decided to approach the Minister’s Association with a view to making arrngements for holding a combined service.

The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chairman and the Press.
