“NOT THE BOARD’S DUTY”
TEACHING CHILDREN MANNERS. (Special t< “Chronicle”) AUCKLAND, Aug. 20. “I do not think it is the duty of the Transport Board to teach children manners. That is the duty of home, parents, and school.” This was the comment passed at a Transport Board meeting to-day by Mr L. E. Rhodes, Mayor of Mount Albert, who succeeded in reversing the former decision on the Board that school children using concession cards should give their scats up to adults when all seats were occupied. Mr J. A. C. Allum explained that, in passing the resolution originally, no reflection was meant on the behaviour of the children. Regulations had to be adopted. Ladies in the Department, holding passes, were subject to the same restriction.
