General situation—The cyclone is now centred south of Cape Marla and has increased cr iderably in intensity. Forecast —Winds: East to north from New Plymouth and Napier northwards, but backing gradually to south-west, elsewhere east to south and strong to gale force north of Westport and Kaikoura. Moderate thence southwards. Seas (New Zealand waters) rough to heavy north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura, moderate thence south wards. Weather: Still unsettled, dull and misty generally, and in the North Island stormy with scattered rains in the southern half of the South Is’ id.
