FIRST LYTTELTON CHILD

DEATH OF MB. H. BRITTAN. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, July 22. Mr Harry Lyttelton Brittan has died at the age of 77. He was formerly an inspector of the Union Bank of Australia. Mr Brittan is believed to be the first New Zealand-born descendant of the Canterbury pilgrims and the first father was Mr William Guise Brittan, who arrived at Lyttelton in December, 1851, in one of the first four ships sent out by the Canterbury Association to establish a Church of England settlement on Banks Peninsula, and what were afterwards. known as Canterbury Plains.
