ANOTHER MASQUERADER
WOMAN WHO POSED AS MAN. t Australian Tress Assn, j LONDON, May 10. Another remarkable case of a successful masquerade was revealed in Eversham (Worcestershire), where a woman lived for four years as the husband of another woman. bhe masqueraded and was known as William Sydney Holtom, aged 42, and was employed as a timber carter. Her identity was revealed when she was admitted hospital. The “wife,” who was Mabel Lincoln, of Birmingham, says that she was astounded at the revelation. She said: “It is unbelievable that he is a woman. Her voice was that of a norms 1 man. She had always gre.tr st length and smoked all day long a clay pipe, and had for years been engaged with a team of horses in hauling timber. She had numerous men friends and was always well liked and aad lived with two other women before me.” It is believed that Holtom has been posing as a man for nearly a decade. She is now critically ill with entvric fever.
