WANGANUI LADIES’ CLUB MEDAL MATCH TO-DAY To-day will be an open day at the Belmont Links for the Wanganui Ladies’ Golf Club, a nedal match b> ing played this morning, commencing at 9.30 a.m., and a foursome this af noon, players to < hoose their own partners and opponents. INTER-CLUB MATCH WANGANUI AND CASTLECLIFF BELMONT PLAYERS TOO GOOD The first inter-club match between the Wanganui and Castlecliff Golf Clubs was play on Saturday, the A grade players being at Belmont and the B grade at Castlecliff. At Belmont, L. Cathro, Castlecliff’s top man, won from J. Al. Hussey, turning in a nice 76, which is a good performance for his first round at Belmont this season, while the second man from the seaside links, J. Wilson, halved with F. S. Parkes. Although Wanganui won the majority of the other games, most of them were fairly close, no fewer than four being halved. Wanganui won 14 and Castlecliff two. At the Castlecliff links the finish was quite a close one, Wanganui winning by the narrow margin of nine, games to seven, one game being halved. ■ Details of the results are as follows, i the Wanganui players being mentioned • first in each instance: At Belmont Links. The weather conditions were good and a large field competed.
ONE-ARMED PLAYER’S FEAT TARANAKI MAN WINS [Per Press Association. I NEW PLYMOUTH, Alay 12. A remarkable performance was put up by a one-armed man at Waiwakaiho golf links on Saturday, when H. W. Kirkby won the Standish Cup with a handicap of 21. He won three rounds field of 29 with the best gross score w T on the Junior Afedal Handicap from a with a net score of 222, Kirkby also (95) and a net score of 74. The next best round was 98.
