“THE MIDNIGHT FROLICS."
“The Midnight Frolics,’’ a splendid company headed by the famous comedian and pantomimist Clem Dawe; Mona Maqnet, the noted comedienne who was specially engaged in London for the New Zealand tour; together with a talented combination company, a jazz band of twelve instruments, and a company of singers, comedians, dancers and musicians, is the next J. C. Williamson attraction at Wanganui for a short season of two nights at the Opera House next Monday and Tuesday May 6 and 7. The Frolics are well-known in the Dominion, having toured before, and their return should be popular with theatre goers. Clem Dawe, whose drolleries and original methods of funmaking are too well and favourably known to toe forgotten, heads the list of comedians. Mona Magnet is one of the most accomplished and versatile artists ever seen in the Dominion. Others of note are Eric Edgeley and Les. White; comediennes, Gertie Creamer and Dorothy White; singers, Oscar Beck, William Perryman, dancer, Phyllis Amery; musicians, Gregory Ivanoff, the trio, and the jazz band of twelve. The company ’s programmes include genuinely humorous and original sketches, rich musical numbers, haunting melodies and operatic numbers, clever dancing, and all the ingredients of popular revue, which are unique in character and refreshingly enjoyable. The company commenced its Dominion tour in Auckland, coming direct from a record season of .16 weeks in Brisbane and has been playing to crowded and delighted audiences wherever it has appeared. The Wanganui season is definitely limited to two (2) nights, and there will be no return season. The box plans open at 9 a.m. on Friday at H. I, Jones book warehouse.
