TWO PACIFIC FLIGHTS
AMERICA TO JAPAN WOMAN PLANS EPIC JOURNEY Closely following the announcement of a Canadian, Lieut. Harold Bromley, or his plans to fly the Pacific from Tacoma (Washington) to Tokio, is that of a woman, Louise McPethridge Thaden, who proposes a non-stop flight from Seattle to the Japaneee capital, [ Australian Press Asen. ] Received April 5, 10 p.m. NEW YORK, April 4. News from Seattle states that Louise McPethridge Thaden, holder of the women’s endurance and altitude records is planning a non-stop Pacific flight from Seattle to Tokio in June. She will be accompanied by a co-pilot navigator and radio operator in a trimotored ’plane equipped with pontoons. Lieut Bromley is going to Los Angeles to superivs e the completion ot the Lockhead-Vega monoplane designed for Wilkin’s Antarctic expedition, which has been purchased. Bromley is a native of Victoria, British Columbia, aged 29. He served with the Canadian forces overseas and the Royal Air Force. He has had 1000 hours’ flying and is a qualified navigator and radio operator. He will iustal a motor capable of doing 150 miles per hour, cutting the flying time to 35 hours for the 4700 miles, leaving a safety margin of 1000 miles.
