TREACHEROUS SURF

MANY SYDNEY RESCUES A treacherous surf prevailed at the Sydney beaches on Saturday and Sunday, December 22 and 23, and there were many rescues. At Bronte on Saturday afternoon a man got into difficulties about 200 yards from the beach and was approaching exhaustion when rescued by Messrs W. McCullam and L. May, members of the Bronte Surf Life-Saving Club. The rescuers experienced great difficulty. Members of the Bondi Club effected 22 rescues during the day—l 6 with lines ami six without lines- At Manly six people were brought asnore, mi* none of them suffered severely. Lifesavers were busy at other beaches. At Bondi bluebottles were unusually numerous. Members of the North Bondi Club treated about 40 people who had received stings from bluebottles.
