The High Council of the Salvation Army, attended by delegates irom all parts of the world, met at Sunbury with the object of determining whether General Bramwell Booth was in a lit physical and mental condition to continue command. Commissioner Hay, of New Zealand took the chair. The Council adjourned fur threequarters of an hour to enable thc various sections to consider tho terms ot the resolutions they proposed tc bring forward. Directly thc adjournment was announced Catherine Booth and Commissioners Laurie and Kitching motored to a villa near Sunbury Court, which Catherine Booth has hired for the duration of th c conference. Colonel Mary Booth, representing Germany, also motored to thc villa, where a short conference was held. All the leaders arrived in motor cars and stopped at th e entrance where an elaborate system of whistle signals had been arranged, a long blast meaning someone challenged and found all correct; two blasts meaning doubtful, a messenger urgently needed; throe blasts being an emergency call. Some unauthorised person attempted to rush the guards and in one case a man climbed over the high wall, but tho patrols discovered and ejected him. It is officially announced that thc Council spent th c day setting up the necessary committees to deal with the finance and other formalities. One committee deals with Press matters and prepares a daily bulletin. Each of the throe sessions was opened with prayer. At the first a message expressing love and sympathy in his illness was sent to the General. The Council later adjourned until tomorrow. None of the delegates is allowed to leave Sunbury Court. Thc gates were locked at 7 o’clock and no one was admitted.
