INDIANS FROM FIJI
PROVISIONS OF IMMIGRATION ACT [ Per l*iesa Association J WELLINGTON, Jan. 9. From inquiries in official sources it appears that information contained in a cablegram from Suva concerning the departure of a party of Indians for New Zealand, is not based on facts known to the Customs authorities in New Zealand. It is apparent that the message was sent in ignorance of the conditions under which Indians are permitted to come to New Zealand as permanent residents. A permit is necessary under tho Act of 1920- They can land as visitors, or for business reasons, on proof of intention that they intend to leave again within six months.
