GOVERNOR OF RHODESIA

SIB CECIL RODWELL’S POST CAPETOWN. Dec. 24. After an absence of ten years from South Africa Sir Cecil Hunter Rodwell, an ex-Governor of Fiji, has returned as the new Governor of Rhodesia, Britain s largest self-governing colony. Subsequent to his service in the South African War Sir Cecil was in South Africa for 14 years, serving under no fewer than four High Commissioners. 4 ‘During that period ” he said, “I several times visited Southern Rhodesia, and through my connection with successive High Commissioners became acquainted with South African and Rhodesian problems. Both Lady Rodwell and mvself recognise that we have a difficult task before us in following Sir John and Lady Chancellor. I have had opportunities for discussing some of the problems of Southern Rhodesia with Sir John, who has unbounded faith in the future of the colony. 7 ’ Sir Cecil and Lady Rodwell and their family have taken up their residence in Salisbury.
