Jig-Saw Puzzle Parish
The administration of the parish al Bentley, on the main road from Walsall to Wolverhampton, resembles a jig-saw puzzle. Although Bentley is in the Walsall Rural Council area, it 1 elongs to the Cannock Parliamentary Division. Its police cases go to Wilbreech oi the loom as the preceding lonhall. It belongs to the Walsall postal district, but is in the Darlaston telephone area. It gets gas from W’illenhall, water from Wolverhampton, and electricity from Ocker Hill, miles away. If a dead body is found the coroner l.j to journey from Brierly Hill to held an inquest, and when a parishioner dies the funeral goes to the neighbouring parish of Short Heath, although there is a cemetery within the Bentley district. But that belongs to Willenhall. Furthermore. Bentley has no publie-house, no church, and no chapel.
Mushrooms are said not to grow' on land which has been treated with artificial manure.
