A King’s Candlesticks
The disappearance from an hotel in Mayfair of a pair of valuable antique amber candlesticks was recently reported to Scotland Yard. The candlesticks originally belonged to a bygone King of Poland, while the carving of clusters of cherubs was executed by Peruscrnotte, a celebrated Italian sculptor. The candlesticks are the property of a foreign visitor who was staying at the hotel.
