A BRAVE SOLDIER
GAVE LIFE FOR CHILD WARTIME GALLANTRY RECALLED I Australian Press Assn. 1 LONDON, Nov. 19. On the eve of the funeral with military honours of Novell, an ex-service-man, who was killed in saving a three-year-old child from being run over during the Armistice celebrations in Limehouse, another ex-serviceman sought permission to see his body. Following the scrutiny he said: “I thought so. We were together in France. He saved my life. 1 was wounded during a gas attack and Lovell took off his respirator and gave it to me, saying: “You take it, mate, I can run.’ I had not seen him since.” The Mayor of Poplar is raising a fund for Lovell's widow and seven children. Ten thousand people followed the cortege through the crowded streets.
