HOSPITAL FOR ANIMALS INSTITUTION AT NEW LYNIf (Special -Chronicle" Service.) AUCKLAND, Nov. ». Tho first “Blue Cross” hospital fff) animals in New Zealand is about to b« ostab ished at New Lynn, a suburb of Auckland, by the Society for tho Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, under arrangement with Mr H. W. Carbury, one of its honorary veterinary surgeons. Believing that with the growth of Auckland, such a hospital has become necessary, tho Society has for some years been accumulating a capital fund for tho purpose of creating the hospital. It has- purchased two acres of land at New Lynn, and on this site will erect immediately a suitable concrete building to contain the operating theatre and -‘ward” with cages for dogs, cats and binds anil all necessary conveniences. A dwe ling house will be built on another part of the land and prevision will bo made tar enelousures in which tho animals ean be exercised.
A business agreement has been entered into between tho Society anrf Mi Carbury. whereby the hospital will be carried on by him as the Society’s tenant. Tho scale of charges tn bo made by him for veterinary treatment of animals, and for their ace immolation as ‘‘boarders,” has been drawn
At present the scheme docs not Inc'u.le horses, but it is possible that it may t . r extended to do so. It is intended that the buildings shall be ready for u e by Christmas in order that owners may bo able to leave pets at the institution during tho holidays.
