A piece of iron hurtled through the air by an explosion aboard the old paddle steamer Newcastle, lying at Bozelte wharf, fell 50 yards away, killing the owner of the vessel, John Grille. Another piece of iron struck the side of a house 100 yards further on an! smashed, among other things, a kitchen sideboard. The vessel was being broken up by explosives. Grille was standing clear, awaiting the firing of the charge, when he was struck by a flying piece of scrap iron. Another man standing close by in conversation with Grille escaped injury,
