CHARLTON MAY PAY DOMINION A VISIT AUCKLAND CENTRE URGES COUNCIL TO MOVE [ Per Press Association 1 AUCKLAND, Nov. L Tho use of swimming funds to assist sending competitors to thc Olympic Games was discussed last night at the annual meeting of the Auckland Swimming Centre. Opinions were expressed that it would be more beneficial if tours were made of the Dominion by overseas swimmers. Jt was decided to urge the New Zealand Council to endeavour to obtain a visit from “Boy” Charlton or the Japanese champions. The annual report anticipated that in tho next few months a bath, reported to be the best in New Zealand, would be established at Point Chevalier by Dixieland Ltd. Shis should be a means of strengthening the centre and sport genarlly, while at the same time providing further facilities for edueatoinal work nwnng children. Tho bn th would, among other facilities, contain a high diving board with plenty of water beneath, and would bepnost suitable for the holding of the New Zealand championships at. Auckland.
