BUSHRANGERS AND TOBACCO Early in 1846 three ticket-of-leave men arrived in New Zealand from the prison settlement in Tasmania and proceeded to commence a campaign of terror in Canterbury as bushrangers. What far-off days those days seem now, and. yet it was only two years before Dill’s Best Tobacco was put on the market. It really must be a wonderful achievement for a smoking tobacco not only to hold its wn, but continue growing in popularity over the long span of eighty years. A trial of this famous old leaf has, however, quickly convinced many smokers of the cause. Men. everywhere, those many years, have declared: “Yes, Dill’s Best is a mighty fine pipe tobacco.’’ What greater praise could a smoker give than that?
