Air A. A. 8. Lane, formerly of the Loan and Alercantilc Agency Coy., has joined the sales staff of Magnus Alotors.

A Wellington nfessagc states that the Chief Justice (Sir Charles Skerrett) has marie such a satisfactory recovery that he was able to leave the private hospital for his home at Imwry Bay on Saturday. A period of rest and quiet is prescribed by his medical advisers.

Guests at Foster’s Hotel are:—Messrs F. Alaycr, K. H. BartJeet, A. S. M. Gregor, and Air and Airs E. H. Picott (Wellington), Alcssrs R. B. Scott and B. Brown (Auckland), Air and Mrs W. H. Cattie and Air ami Airs E. B. Ekin (Sydney), Air and Airs Ale Keown (Timaru) and Air H. J. Afarchaut (Stratford).

The death occurred at Wanganui on Saturday of Airs R. H. Trotter. Deceased was a daughter of the late Mr W. Avcrall, North Shore, Auckland and with her husband, had lived in the Rangitikei for 16 years. Evidence of the high esteem in which she was held was found in the large attendance at the funeral yesterday afternoon. The deceased Indy leaves a husband, one daughter and two sons— Alary, A>hton and Sydney.

Although suffering from physical disabilities, Mr T. B. Williams maintains a cheerful demeanour. On Friday afternoon a number of friends remembered the lay as his birthday «ml waited upon him to wish him many happy returns. Amongst those present were Mr W. A. V.-Teh. AI.P., the Atayor, Air W J. Rogers Air W. L. Young. Crs. Fiddells, J. Alorrison and A. HaH.pin, ex-Coun’illor.i E. W. Gohns, C. J. Sharpe and J. C. Richardson and Air F. Webb-Jonou. A very pleasant time, was spent reviving old memories, and tr.e presentation of a fountain pen was made to A 1 r MiHiams. After his health bid been drunk by the company, hearty cheers were given for himself and Airs Williams.
