NEW LOCOMOTIVE
BURNS OIL AND COAL [ British Official Wireless. ] RUGBY, Oct. 3. A locomotive designed to burn both oil and coal, built by the firm of Kitson, at Leeds, is being subjected to tests on the London and North Eastern Railway at Darlington. The engine is stated to be capable of high speeds and of reducing fuel costs by CO per cent. Mr Kitson Clarke, managing director of the firm, states that the principle of the internal combustion engine, as applicable to railway engines, is being tried out. The engine evolved has pulled a train of up to 400 tons. If the experiments arc completely successful, ho adds, wc shall witness tho greatest revolt tion in locomotive traction since Stephenson invented the first steam engine.
